the height of the day came at the end of work, i started my ride home, so effortless, it felt like sailing, coasting. my legs acted automatically, drifting around puddles, and breathing in the cool after todays rain. the thing about caifornia rain, versus portland or eastcoast rain is that the weather keeps its temperature and its not half bad walking or riding as it pours around you. but by the end of the day it had subsided and we were left with wet streets and dark puddles. then 'landslide' came on and things became surreal. the world went silent and i felt like everything was clearer and for the first time in a long time i wasnt glaring, so much as i was doing nothing. kind of like what they say in the books, don't do anything. so there i was doing nothing on my bike riding in auto and i went and got some cd-r's for some postcards ive been meaning to send for awhile now. riding down mission instead of feeling suffocated i felt like i did when i first came here in 2005. maybe its the night air, maybe it was the day and practicing my social skils. maybe it was the music that was playing as i rode Home. at any rate it was an involved enough a scenario that i didn't want to forget it. i remember riding down mission thinking: I am at the helm of my existance, there is nothing more i want. (wellll, maybe a couple more things) how much better can it get. after completing my errand, i got back on my bike and an ollld travis song from back in the dayy comes on and thats it, i didnt even want to keep riding: it was the perfect ending to the ride day tape.
